Tagsmart

Verification system

Our Certificates of Authenticity are created by the highly respected Tagsmart system.

Murray Laidlaw has been fully verified by Tagsmart for the issue of Certificates of Authenticity and the signing of Certificates and associated digital records.

You can check our current verification status at: https://tagsmart.com/verified using our Tagsmart Verified ID CD4R.

We create our Certificates online and a paper copy, personalised in your name with additional hologram and anti-copying technology, is mailed to the address you specify, anywhere in the world.

Each Certificate comes with a free online account that gives you access to the artwork's provenance record. As a registered keeper of the work, you are also able to transfer the Certificate and artwork record to another collector or family member. And if your Certificate gets lost, damaged or stolen, Tagsmart can remotely cancel it and issue you with a new one. Your personal information is encrypted and never shared with third parties unless you specifically ask us to do so.

As part of our authentication process we will request Tagsmart to register your certificate on the Artory blockchain to provide irrefutable evidence of your artwork's provenance.

We provide your Certificate and the blockchain registration at no extra cost (including delivery). We believe that secure provenance is an important part of the value of your artwork. For more information about your Certificate, see https://tagsmart.com/certificates.

 . . .

Blockchain is a method of linking and distributing information that makes it very difficult - even impossible - to change historical information. All the information about an artwork and the transaction is logged in a blockchain-style system, this would prevent anyone from falsifying the record in future.

“Tagsmart has monitored blockchain technologies since the company was first formed in 2013 and remains the world leader in the development of tagging systems for artworks. One of the key requirements for successful use of blockchain is a method of verifying physical works to complement the verifiable digital record. As well as offering our existing DNA and other security tags to meet this requirement, we continue to develop new solutions for the future”.
